for High Speed and Long Travel Applications
Belt drive linear actuators convert rotary motion from a motor into fast, smooth linear travel using a timing belt and pulley system. The belt moves a carriage along a guided rail inside an actuator body, making these systems well suited for high-speed, long-stroke applications where rapid positioning and low friction are important. Compared with screw-driven systems, belt-driven actuators typically offer higher speeds and longer travel distances, which makes them popular in automation equipment, pick-and-place machines, and multi-axis gantry systems.
The MTB series from PBC Linear is a family of belt-driven linear actuators engineered for high-speed, long-travel motion in medium- to large-scale automation systems. The actuators use a steel-reinforced urethane timing belt inside a fully enclosed aluminum housing and incorporate a profile rail guide with runner blocks to support the carriage with low friction, noise, and vibration. Designed for demanding applications such as Cartesian gantries and lab automation, the MTB series offers multiple profile sizes, stroke lengths up to about 6 m, speeds up to roughly 3 m/s, and payload capacity in the thousands of newtons while maintaining a lightweight, corrosion-resistant structure.
